LMHS Legacy Scholarship

Launching in 2026, the LMHS Legacy Scholarship will honor our alma mater’s tradition of excellence by supporting rising college juniors who demonstrate leadership, academic achievement, and community service.

Eligibility & Application Details

Award Year: Fall 2026 (one-time award)
Application Window: Opens January 1, 2026

Deadline: May 1, 2026 (11:59 PM EST)

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must meet all of the following criteria:

  • Be enrolled full-time in an accredited college or university degree program

  • Be in the sophomore year and classified as a rising junior, OR transferring to a 4-year college/university with junior status

  • Be in good academic and social standing at the time of application

  • Hold a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5

 

Selection Criteria

Applications will be evaluated based on:

  • Enrollment in a focused field of study (e.g., Business, History, Finance)

  • A well-written essay responding to the provided prompt(s)

  • Evidence of community service and/or extracurricular involvement

  • Demonstrated leadership roles, skills, or contributions

 

Priority Consideration

  • Preference will be given to applicants who are:

  • Descendants of Lincoln Memorial High School (LMHS) graduates

  • Descendants of Lincoln Memorial Middle School (LMMS) graduates

  • LMMS graduates currently in their sophomore year of college

  • Proof of relationship is required (see FAQs).

How to Apply

To complete the application, students must:

  1. Submit the online form in full and provide an e-signature

  2. Upload the following required documents:

    • Official college and high school transcripts (to verify eligibility and priority status)

    • Essay responding to the provided prompt(s)

    • Signed Academic and Social Standing Statement

    • Proof of enrollment in a focused field of study (e.g., official transcript, acceptance letter, registration, or SIS screenshot/printout)

    • If transferring as a junior, proof of admission into a major (e.g., acceptance letter, email, portal screenshot, course registration, or financial aid award letter)

Deadline: All materials must be submitted by 11:59 PM EST on May 1, 2026. Late or incomplete applications will not be accepted.

Q: When will the application be available? A: The application will open on January 1, 2026 and will be accessible through this website.

Q: Is an essay required? A: Yes. Applicants must submit a written essay in response to the prompt(s) provided in the application.

Q: Are transcripts required? A: Yes. Both high school and college transcripts are required. High school transcripts will be used to verify past enrollment at LMMS (if applicable).

Q: How do I show proof of my relationship to an LMHS or LMMS graduate? A: You will need to list the alum’s name and your relationship on the application. If applicable, please provide the maiden name of female relatives for verification.

Q: How will I know if my application is complete? A: Each applicant will create a secure login profile. You can track your application status by logging into your account on this website.

Q: Can dual enrollment students apply? A: No. Students whose initial college enrollment is through dual enrollment and who achieve junior standing before full-time enrollment are not eligible.

Q: Can I reapply if I am not selected? A: Yes. If you meet the eligibility requirements in future award cycles, you are welcome to reapply.

Q: When will the scholarship recipient be announced? A: The recipient will be notified by August 1, 2026, and the announcement will also be shared on this website.
